Benefits of using Peel & Stick

Basically, the tile on your roof is a major defense against the elements, but the
underlayments also play a crucial role. They provide a secondary level of protection directly on top of your roof deck. Underlayments can provide longevity and improve the performance of your roof, so you want to make sure you choose the correct type for your roof.

There are a variety of "peel and stick" roofing underlayments available on the market now.

To name just a few of the benefits of using them rather than #30 felt or #90 slate are:
Durability
No smelly hot asphalt is used
Cleaner to install
Offers a slip resistant surface

Here's a quick video demonstrating Paul Bange Roofing applying peel & stick in preparation for a tile roof.

Benefits of using Solar Roof Vents

Heat, humidity and moisture can wreck havoc in your attic and affect your roof.

Solar roof vents are an environmentally friendly way of cooling your attic and protecting not only the attic but your roof from excessive environmental exposure.

Solar roof vents are powered by solar fans that run on solar energy instead of electricity. Installing a solar roof vent can save you up to 30% on your cooling costs. (Huge plus, especially here in Florida).

Solar roof vents can also keep your attic cool and dry by removing heat and moisture which helps eliminate mold & mildew growth. When your attic overheats, the shingled roof heats on its underside and can experience damage.

Solar roof vents run constantly under direct sunlight from sunrise to sunset, enabling the attic to be ventilated all day, reducing your cooling costs.

May be eligible for Federal Tax Credits for solar roof fan/vent.
Ask about details.

Call Paul Bange Roofing at 954-981-7663 (ROOF) to schedule an appointment to see if you would benefit from having solar roof vents installed.

Maintaining Pitch Pans

Pitch pans are basically open topped "boxes" that are filled with asphalt to seal around small penetrations through the roof, such as electrical conduits, freon lines, solar panel legging, etc.

Pitch pans need to be maintained because the asphalt in the pitch pans does tend to settle which creates a ponding water condition in the pitch pan. The asphalt also begins to crack and pull away from the roof penetrations as well.

Facts about Ridge Vents

What is a ridge vent?

A ridge vent is a type of vent installed at the peak of a sloped roof which allows warm, humid air to escape a building's attic. Ridge vents are most common on shingled residential buildings.

What does a ridge vent do?
Once installed on the ridge, the ridge vent is then covered with shingles, and then the vents are inconspicuous. The main purpose of a roof ridge vent is to optimize airflow under the roof.

If a house has a ventilation system that provides the right amount of airflow, it is more efficiently cooled and protected from moisture & humidity. Roof ridge vents supply airflow under the roof enabling the attic space to be sufficiently ventilated.

Ridge Vent Benefits:
-Provides evenly distributed ventilation along the entire underside of the roof.
-Allows outside air to flow naturally upward and out of attic.
-Promotes a cooler, drier attic.
-Helps prevent moisture from becoming trapped in insulation, structural wood, shingles and roof deck.
-Helps prevent rotting, mildew, drywall damage, peeling paint and warped siding.
-Slim design with visual appeal compared to standard roof turbines.
-Provides a higher volume of airflow per square foot of attic area than any other fixed-vent system.
-Maximizes airflow across the entire underside of roof sheathing.
